Explicating A Song
All of these joyful bird songs
is where the joy of life belongs;
but we tend to interpret them
like a deep and meaningful hymn.
Do birds have a philosophy
like those which sing to you and me?
I think their thoughts are momentary
and songs mostly solitary.
They are trying to find a mate
with hopes that they can copulate
and produce a new generation;
which is the real explanation.
We can listen to them singing
and not care what is happening.
