With Dark Companions
Often, when day turns into dark
there is a reddish afterglow
which illuminates Central Park
as the sun refuses to go.
In man-made parks everywhere
are benches for the very tired.
Many people are resting there
after the daylight has expired.
They may have nowhere else to go
because of various reasons
and are enduring rain or snow
depending upon the seasons.
They wait there for the night to pass
accompanied by trees and grass.
