When News Becomes History
History: Memory of lies,
or else a storehouse of the wise;
where our ancient prophets have met
to write down things we might forget.
History is a rumor mill
written and re-written until
our wars all seem like victories
and hopes for peace are mysteries.
Still, we have no memories of
instances of brotherly love.
Our values become distorted
while such things are not reported.
So our people become naive
never knowing what to believe.
