Understand? It’s a Brand
Metonymy but not metaphor
is like a brand name substitute for
a generic commodity
with similar identity.
A metaphor merely indicates
actions or things which it imitates.
You could have a dead Frigidaire
which can no longer cool the air
while an unnamed three-wheel vehicle
is a metaphoric tricycle.
Kleenex is only a substitute
while Justin is a cowboy boot.
Metaphor says it is like this
metonym is what it is.
