To Jerry Belenker (Jan. 09 issue)
Yes, i do have an answer
for mankind’s greatest cancer;
the lack of needed brotherly love.
This is what my answer consists of:
We must first realize who we are;
not the dust of an exploded star.
We are each part of something greater
than “i’ve got mine–i’ll see you later.”
There is a cosmic consciousness,
larger than our self-awareness
We are each part of this good intent
in which many gods are evident.
Bowing down to an imagined God
strikes me as particularly odd
when there are real gods no one fears,
intangible like love, it appears.
It is only the body which dies
which all of us should realize.
We are all part of eternity,
all gods, all souls, and you, and me.
We shouldn’t wear knee holes in our pants
bowing like a bunch of sycophants
to a jealous God we invented.
That’s not what real gods intended.

Sometimes i make sense
often i do not
but in my defense
i do write a lot
