Still A Rebel Because
I am a stranger in my own land;
too many things i don’t understand.
Why is there such worshiping of things
and joy when the cash register rings?
What are the things which we value most–
is it the weapons of which we boast?
The thing we seem to be proudest of
is rejection of brotherly love.
I got mine–so how did you make out–
seems to be what it is all about.
We Americans are not that way
is what i keep on trying to say.
But, sometimes i really have to doubt
there is much brotherly love about.
