If meaning escapes
or is overcome by emotion
who mourns the loss of logic?
To slip easily
from a twisted tongue
and relish the sound of love
we must understand
the rhythm and the sound
without resort to reason.
If meaning still lurks
behind a stream of nonsense,
we should stomp it
into the dust of memory
and sing a song with a night bird;
for emotion is pointless
and the heart perceives a song.
