The Superego and the Id
Do our memes determine
who we choose to be?
Or, are these learned characteristics
subject to or overruled by
our inherited genes?
Our stream of consciousness
assumes we are in control.
Otherwise we have no free choice.
If our genes predispose
the choices we make,
we are somewhat out of control.
The question now becomes;
can we learn, or be taught,
how to take control of our lives?
In some people conflict exists
and makes them uncomfortable.
Can love be taught?
It is generally accepted
that sexual or erotic love
is directed by the will
of the universe to reproduce.
Brotherly love on the other hand
is, and must be, a learned characteristic.
Now we may decide if,
or do we want to be,
in control of our lives;
or a split personality.
