Perhaps A Silver Lining
I can’t relate to loneliness.
My life is full of happiness.
I am not full of bleak despair
or misery i want to share.
While this current stock market crash
is making us all short of cash
There are many people like me
who’ve known it was a certainty.
Uncontrolled capitalism
has a predictable rhythm.
Like a government-sponsored greed
it doesn’t provide what we need.
I have always had a real hunch
there’s no such thing as a free lunch.
We all know living beyond our means
is like the ads in magazines.
Don’t worry, the rich won’t suffer;
they will borrow from each other.
They have a golden parachute
when, not if, it all goes kapoot.
If this fool system does collapse
we can overthrow it, perhaps.
Capitalism has been a curse
and politicians made it worse.
If they would make some better laws
instead of playing Santa Klaus;
so that the CEOs and such
could only make ten times as much
as people who wear blue collars;
that’s three hundred thousand dollars.
we could afford socialized health
and all of us could share the wealth.
