Which Way To Mecca?
We are searching for a peace
which passes all understanding.
Some people seem to have found it
through an irrational belief
in a second-hand fairy tale.
Is this a price to high for us?
We may be tempted to intervene;
to explain by rational means
that their peace of mind is not real
despite its emotional appeal.
But what is the purpose in that?
Perhaps it is more sensible
and more rational to accept
the easy path–to go along
to get along–and rest in peace.
It is more rational to
understand there are many roads
which lead to a similar goal,
giving everyone freedom
to pursue their personal haj.
If a fellow traveler
is unsure or bewildered,
then, be a good Samaritan.

Walt Abbott–9-14-08

There was an old man who said
“Life’s road is ending ahead”
but he was wrong
life is still long
We are immortal instead
