An Old Man in a New Life
A quest for our own perfection
doesn’t allow room for the truth.
We go in the wrong direction
and look for a fountain of youth.
Wisdom more often comes with age
and sages more likely mature.
We are like actors on a stage
in a play we have to endure.
We were once young and innocent;
naive, with very much to learn.
We wonder where our lost youth went
and are searching for its return.
Search no longer for what is gone.
Ev’ry morning is a new dawn.
