What We Really Need
Some things to which we may aspire
may not be needs but false desire
since capitalism depends
on a population who spends.
Surely most of us realize
advertising is mostly lies
trying to make most of us want
tawdry trash their TVs flaunt.
To think of this as spiritual
would take a mighty miracle.
Hopes and aspirations can be
part of spirituality,
but not when the purpose is greed.
Brotherly love is what we need.
