Only the Body is Mortal
Spirituality is not
removing any hope i’ve got
that i will live eternally
for death is not coming for me.
It is my spirit, as my soul,
which explains my temporal role.
The body is only a shell
which i inhabit for a spell.
This body isn’t really me;
it is only temporary.
Many people may seem to make
a most ridiculous mistake
by never knowing who they are
but i am more particular.
The older i get
the more i realize
that i am immortal.
Maturity comes
as we learn more
about what matters.
We learn that possessions
can tend to own us
if we allow them to do so.
Defining spirituality
may seem impossible
if we reject reality.
Spirits are intangible
and also immortal.
What is hard about that?
