Love is a Prayer
If the human race should outlive
all the sins which our gods forgive
and accept love as the way
we will have learned how to pray.
Praying is not asking for things
but thanking gods for our blessings.
Gods are not spirits up above
but everywhere there is love.
The gods will express their gratitude,
and love of life will be renewed,
if we learn to love ev’ryone
until the human race is won.
Our purposes in life could be
telling the gods, “Depend on me.”
