If It Sounds Nice, It Is
Words in poems may seem imprecise
but were chosen because they sound nice.
Altho words may mean nothing at all
they may be the sounds which you recall.
Some of my verses you may resent
because meaning is not evident.
So tell me the meaning of a rose
You may not know but your nose knows.
You may read it and think i’m a dunce
because you have only read it once.
Now read it aloud just for the sound
and sometimes a purpose may be found.
If i still sound like an idiot
there are readers who think i am not.
