Beating The Bushes
When as a child, as i was and am,
i’ve had some doubts about Uncle Sam.
We threw out all of the foreign kings
but they were replaced by other things.
Capitalists are in power,
consumerism rules the hour.
A new constitution had been born
but now it is all tattered and torn.
We survived our first revolution,
Now we need another solution,
not based on aristocratic greed.
Socialism may be what we need,
but not with a stale bureaucracy
which eliminates democracy.
