Only Some Birds
Purple Martens etched against blue sky;
how must it feel as they soar so high?
I think i would feel an arrogance
in joining such a majestic dance.
Looking down on the earthbound creatures
such as writers, poets and preachers
has to make them feel superior
to those tied to the earth’s exterior.
Apparently it doesn’t appear
as frightening as the view from here.
It might seem to me that i would fall.
Soaring birds don’t have that fear at all.
It requires a certain kind of wing
to prevent a fall from happening.
