I Know I Know
Beyond inspiration, beneath reason,
and somewhat incoherent as well
the avant garde poet is in season
and poetry is going to hell.
I have just read the Poetry Review
and i must admit i’m confused.
It is supposed to be English, too,
but the english therein seems abused.
Why some poets strive to be obscure
is a problem i have always had.
If we could understand them, for sure,
we would know that their poems are bad.
Academic poets don’t seem to know
reason and rhyme is the way to go.
