An American Dream
I have lived east and i have lived west.
It is hard to say which is the best.
Where forests have taken over grass
they hide wide open spaces, alas.
But the mountain/desert wilderness
is frequently barren and streamless.
Very high on western mountain slopes
we find a place to fulfill our hopes.
Varieties of beautiful birds
and nature hard to express in words.
The north American continent
must be the world’s best environment.
Thanks to the gods, i can live here.
I believe that heaven must be near.
