The Self in the Mind
If the body is purely mortal
and the spirit is purely immortal,
do the two natures meet each other
within the mind?
Kazim Ali
Faith is to believe something is true;
whereas spirit is living in you.
That means body, spirit, and the mind
may be truths of a different kind.
Self-consciousness means to be aware.
If that ain’t the truth, well, i don’t care,
for if none of us know who we are,
faith may be stretching the truth too far.
Things expressed in the holy bible
may not be fully reliable.
So, where is truth actually found?
There may not be much of it around.
The beauty of a butterfly
doesn’t suggest it’s about to die.
but we have faith that that is true.
Do butterflies have spirits too?
Our spirits can observe the beauty
while the butterfly does its duty.
Faith and religion are a strange mix,
which our spirits cannot ever fix.
