Expectations Expire
The eclipse of my personality
was not particularly bothersome
I had never become attached to it.
I endured it like an ugly disease.
The peculiar balances involved
in a harmony of spirit and mind
had arrived by easy acclimation
in the soul of a fourteen-year-old boy.
However, puberty had come about,
influencing my awe, wonder, and doubt.
I had to take responsibility
for the urges which were growing in me.
But now, as i approach my ninth decade,
i figure, “What the hell? I’ve got it made.”
